Journey to Kazan

I planned a trip to Kazan for several months. My friends advised to take a walk in the center of this beautiful city. And finally, plans came true. In this post I published the most interesting photos taken at night.

So Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. It is the eighth most populous city in Russian Federation and now it is called the Third Capital of Russia.

I paid special attention to the Kazan Kremlin which is fairly well illuminated at night. The Kremlin is situated on the banks of the river Kazanka and effectively reflects in calm weather.

One of the most notable buildings of the Kazan Kremlin is the Soyembika tower. This watch tower has been standing for more than four centuries. The Soyembika tower is one of the so-called leaning towers. Its inclination is about two meters.

But the most beautiful building in the Kazan Kremlin is of course the Qolsharif mosque recreated in 2005. Originally, it was built in the 16th century and destroyed in 1552 during the storming of Kazan by forces of Ivan the Terrible.

The mosque with four 58-meter minarets around is visible far beyond the Kremlin. By the way the mosque is open for visitors, but taking pictures inside is forbidden.

In short, I didn't regret that I took a heavy tripod to the journey.
